Engaging in learning exchanges with outstanding students from both domestic and international institutions is an important initiative for laboratory reform, innovation, openness, and aligning with international standards to support talent development. In January 2024, Dr. Kai Xu, an excellent student jointly trained by the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom, visited the laboratory for a two-week learning exchange. This exchange covered academic and personal aspects and concluded successfully with the active cooperation of students and teachers.
Dr. Kai Xu, hailing from the laboratory of Professor Yuan Ding, an expert in the field of backscatter communication, focuses primarily on research areas such as backscatter communication and RF energy harvesting. During his visiting period, there was extensive interaction between Dr. Xu and the students of the laboratory. At the monthly group meeting, Dr. Xu provided a detailed overview of his work in the field of WiFi backscatter communication. Fellow students actively engaged in discussions, delving deeply into topics such as mitigating signal interference and the design of energy harvesters, fostering fruitful exchanges with Dr. Xu.
In addition to academic exchanges, the students from the laboratory enthusiastically invited Dr. Kai Xu to participate in team-building activities, including dinners and board games. Through this exchange, students from both sides not only broadened their horizons and acquired knowledge but also fostered friendships. This event deepened mutual understanding between the students and enhanced friendship between the laboratories, laying a solid foundation for future substantive exchanges and collaborations between the two laboratories.
