Zhanxiang Huang goes to the School of Computer Science of the City University of Hong Kong from September 2023 to August 2024 for internship. City University of Hong Kong is ranked 54th by QS World University Rankings in the UK and 120th by U.S. News World University Rankings in the US, and is a public research-based university.
Mr. Huang believes that the courses at City University of Hong Kong have strengthened his theoretical foundation. For example, in the Artificial Intelligence course, 10 small experiments and 2 large assignments were completed. He gained a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence. For example, in the Convex Optimization course, He got a deeper understanding of the mathematical basis of many problems.
City University of Hong Kong often organizes seminars, and Zhanxiang Huang thought he gained a lot from attending them. For example, in one of Prof. Weihua Zhuang's presentations, Zhanxiang Huang asked a question about what to do when the research problem is big and it is hard for him to get started. Prof. Zhuang replied that he should start from a small point and make a small problem more precise and practical. This solved the confusion of Zhanxiang Huang.
Through living in Hong Kong, Zhanxiang Huang also felt the difference in culture and habits, such as the sound reminder of traffic lights and convenient access for the disabled in Hong Kong, which greatly broadened his horizons.
Mr. Huang thanked the laboratory for giving him the opportunity to go to Hong Kong for joint program. He hopes that the period of joint training in Hong Kong will be a valuable asset for him and support him to do better work in the future.
