On the morning of December 30, 2023, the UBIoT Laboratory held a seminar in the meeting room C101 of the library of the High-Tech Zone of USTC. This seminar had the honor to invite two excellent industry seniors from Alibaba Group, namely Haoxiang Liu , an algorithm expert, and Haoyu Wang, an engineer of Alibaba Cloud.
Haoxiang Liu, currently an Alibaba algorithm expert, was responsible for the research and implementation of artificial intelligence algorithms in Alibaba, NetEase and other first-tier Internet companies, and has rich theoretical and practical experience in big data, deep learning and other aspects. He graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a bachelor's degree and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a doctorate degree. He has published more than ten papers in top international journals and conferences, including IEEE TON, IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE ICDCS, etc., and participated in the construction and development of several large-scale IoT systems, with solid theoretical foundations and rich experience in development.
HaoYu Wang is a development engineer of Elastic Computing Infrastructure Platform of AliCloud, engaged in stability and intelligent operation and maintenance related work. He graduated from the School of Computer Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) for his undergraduate degree, and graduated from the School of Software, Tsinghua University for his master's degree. His research interests include wireless positioning and time series, and he has published several papers in CCF-A conference journals, such as TMC, VLDB, VLDBJ, and other first-authored papers.
The guest lecturers shared their guidance on AI algorithms and elastic computing, including the considerations for landing algorithms in actual engineering, and shared with us the paper writing process, which meticulously introduces the steps and processes required for the birth of a paper. Students at the conference responded positively and asked many questions to the two guests for in-depth discussion. Participants expressed concerns about the current employment situation and asked the guests for tips on employment and how to improve their core competitiveness. Students expressed that they had gained a lot from this seminar and hoped to communicate with the two outstanding seniors again.

On the afternoon of December 30, 2023, the Annual Meeting of UBIoT Laboratory and the 2023 Year-end Summary and Commendation Meeting was grandly held in the meeting room of Library Conference Room, Room C101, High-Tech Zone, USTC, where nearly 40 teachers and students of the Laboratory gathered to enjoy the grand ceremony.

The annual meeting was honored to invite five outstanding students who graduated from the group or are still pursuing further studies to record New Year's blessing videos, namely, Yuan Longzhi, Liu Yi, Hu Qingyin, Jin Shuowei, and Xu Haiyang. In these blessing videos played on the spot, the strong love between teachers and students, and the friendship between the same classmates were overflowing. We are all dream builders and have the honor to be teachers together. We hope that these students will not forget their original intention, dance for their dreams and go to the other side of the shore with their dreams.

Seek Truths and Pragmatism, Integrate and Comprehend
The laboratory adhering to the concept of red specialization and advancement, the integration of science and practice, specially designed a knowledge quiz session, the topics include school history, party history, and the concept and system of the laboratory and so on. In the knowledge of the quiz session we grouped competitive, competing, during the rush to answer constantly, each group of people on fire, after three rounds of fierce competition, the grand prize finally fell to Weiqi Wu, Lijie Liu won the second prize.

Laughter and surprises
In the past year, everyone contributed to the development of the laboratory. In order to recognize and encourage students, this annual meeting prepared a recognition and lucky draw session, in which the laboratory recognized a number of students, including those who won quarterly awards, undertook public service and published papers. The lucky draw session was full of surprises, with two Xiaomi 14s, three apple watches, and five Bose headphones given out. The winners shared their joy and emotion, expressed their gratitude to the lab, and said that this was not only a prize, but also a motivation for them to continue to work hard and move forward in the future.
Never Forget the Beginning, Keep Moving Forward
In the blink of an eye, the year 2023 has come to an end, and at the end of every year everyone will review the year, summarize the lessons learned, and recognize the outstanding achievements. Alibaba algorithm expert Liu Haoxiang awarded annual prizes to the outstanding students in the lab, Huang Yimeng won the annual first prize, Feng Yunyun won the annual second prize, and sincerely hope that these students will make further achievements and move forward. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Gong Wei made a final speech, summarizing the past, looking forward to the future, and sent New Year's blessings to all of us, hoping that our motherland will be prosperous and strong, and at the same time, hoping that everyone will have a bright future!

On the evening of December 30, 2023, the teachers and students of Ubiquitous Passive Internet of Things Laboratory gathered together for a joyful dinner, in which they mingled with each other and exchanged cups and glasses, toasting their mentors, friends and a bright future! The dinner started with a paragraph full of memories and blessings, and ended perfectly with the laughter of teachers and students.
